Bone density scanning, also known as DEXA scanning, is today’s established standard for measuring bone mineral density. It is a noninvasive medical test that helps physician’s diagnose and treat osteoporosis and other conditions related to the skeletal system.
DEXA is a great screening tool for people who may be at risk for osteoporosis. Women over the age of fifty are strongly recommended to undergo a bone density screening annually, according to the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist’s.
