Ultrasound

Sonography, or ultrasound imaging, is a crucial tool in diagnostic imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal body structures. It is widely used in various fields of medicine due to its versatility, safety, and non-invasive nature.

Benefits of Ultrasound:

  • Safe and Non-Invasive: Ultrasound imaging does not use ionizing radiation, making it a safe option for patients, including pregnant women and children.
  • Real-Time Imaging: Ultrasounds provides live images, which allow healthcare providers to observe organ movement and blood flow, aiding in immediate diagnoses.
  • Versatility: It is used across many medical disciplines from cardiology (assessing heart conditions), to abdominal imaging (liver, kidney, gallbladder, and other organs), and vascular imaging (assessment of DVT and PAD)
  • Cost-Effective: Ultrasound is generally more affordable than other imaging techniques like MRI or CT scans, making it accessible and widely used in routine and emergency care.
